Im Spiegel der Seele

sound design for musical theatre

Im Spiegel der Seele (The Girl In The Mirror) was the second production of the Musical Company Luebeck. It was brought on stage in the "Hafenschuppen C", an old harbour shed in Luebeck.

The production featured 4 leading actors, a dance ensemble, a 10-piece orchestra, musical theatre classics, original compositions, an original book and original choreography.

I took care of the sound design, system design and sound desk operating.

Peter Pan

sound design for musical theatre

Peter Pan was the first production of the newly founded Musical Company Luebeck. It featured a cast of 22 actors and a 17-piece musical orchestra. The final rehearsals and shows took place in the concert hall of the University of Music Luebeck.

The difficulties of the production were a tight time schedule, the reliance on gear provided by the University and the local conditions of the concert hall.

For Peter Pan, I took care of the system planning, programming and operating of the show and sound recording and mixing for the DVD.

Kyra

designing and programming a MIDI controller

Kyra is a MIDI controller and software synthesizer. It was developed and prototyped as a university project.
Kyra enables the user to experiment with the sounds of their surroundings and create sound designs on the go. Using several built-in and attachable sensors, Kyra allows the artist to interact with the synthesizing engine in an intuitive way. A multitude of custom functions create seemingly endless options for shaping the sound.
In this project, I contributed the design concept, the electrotechnical realisation
and microcontroller programming, additional software programming and the sound design for the product campaign.

extrude

joining natural and man-made sounds in a sound sculpture

Extrude is a Bauhaus-inspired interactive spatial sound sculpture. It was designed and realised as a university project and was one of four projects chosen to be presented during the "BAU WHAT?" festival of the Staatstheater Darmstadt.

The structure is made out of different wood and metal elements and draws inspiration from nature. By playing the sculpture with different tools, the visitor can create otherworldly soundscapes combining natural and man-made/artificial sounds.

I was involved in developing the concept and created the sound design of the sculpture.

reign:forest

immersive sound sculpture

reign:forest is an immersive sound installation (currently in a prototype state) taking on the topic of deforestation.

The installation mimics a rainforest, slowly taken over by machines and humans.

It uses the contrast of a raw, technical structure and natural sound design.

The visitors are encouraged to wander through the installation and immerse themselves in the narrative soundscape.
